AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Class
Socialization, Training, Activity and Responsibility = S.T.A.R.

The AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy is an exciting program designed to get dog owners and their puppies off to a good start. The six week class covers house training, handling exercises, socialization, basic commands and more. Class includes 2 days of daycare to socialize puppies with other puppies in a controlled/supervised environment.

At the end of the course your instructor will administer the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy test. Upon passing the test you will receive an application to send to AKC for enrollment in the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Program.

Class starts Tuesday December 7
Length:  45 min/week for 6 weeks
Time: 8:00 – 8:45 pm
Cost: $175 includes 2 days of daycare
Class limited to 5 students
Prerequisite: puppies must be 8-20 weeks on the first day of class. Also puppies are required to have at least one round of vaccinations at least 7 days before the first class.

Puppy Day School Info Form

Puppy Day School combines daycare and dog training to help your puppy get a jumpstart on training and socialization.

Simply drop off your puppy off between 7-9 a.m. and pick them up between 4-6 p.m. for a predetermined number of days. We give you, the owner, the educational material, and the encouragement that you need to continue the same routine at home.

Any questions and concerns that you have are resolved on a daily basis.

Included in day school will be 3, weekly Puppy – Teacher Conference training sessions to offer you guidance with your puppy.

Lessons will include sit, down, coming when called and walking on a leash. We will enforce polite greetings and appropriate human-dog interactions.

During the day, puppies will receive plenty of dog to dog interactions and play with other puppies as well as appropriate adult dogs. As with any preschool, structured nap times and a regular feeding schedule will be provided. Crate training will also be provided.

*Puppy vaccines are required to attend puppy day school. We require two sets of puppy vaccines and a bordatella to attend. We will accept your veterinarian’s puppy vaccination schedule. We also require proof on a negative stool sample for all puppies who attend.

Dog-Gone Fun offers a training program that is flexible for the modern family lifestyle.  Group training classes are designed so that you and your dog can work at your own pace.  Classes are divided into 3 skill levels.  The same skill level class is offered multiple times a week to accommodate your busy schedule.  You are welcome to attend class twice weekly at your skill level and below. Please note additional class options may be added to accommodate additional students. Tuition is sold in blocks of time. 

Levels Membership  8 weeks of unlimited attendance in levels obedience classes.
With regular attendance and practice at home, most dogs will be fluent through level 2 by the end of the 8 week period. If you would like to continue with the program, you can extend your membership in 4 or 8 week increments.
Tuition $220.00

Orientation.  All handlers begin the levels program with a mandatory orientation session.  This session is held without dogs and is offered every 2 weeks to insure you can start your membership as soon as possible.  Memberships are limited.  Required: payment and the registration form before the start of the orientation session.

Level 1  Introduction and Foundation Skills. Dogs need to be five months or older.  Focus work and introduction of the common obedience commands of sit, down, loose leash walking, name recognition. Common behavior issues will be touched upon such as chewing, barking, jumping etc.

Level 2  Building upon obedience commands of sit, down and come. Begin the impulse control exercises of the stay, leave it and proper human greetings. We introduce the three d’s of training, distance, distraction and duration.

Level 3 In level three continue to hone in and perfect all the skills learned so far.  Continue to build heeling patterns and add more distractions from everyday life.  The Canine Good Citizen test is introduced.

Canine Good Citizen Prep
The AKC Canine Good Citizen Test is designed to recognize owners who have demonstrated responsible ownership and training their canine companion for good manners.  This prep class introduces the 10 exercises that make up the Canine Good Citizen Test and gives ample time to practice them.  The formal test will be offered after the completion of the class.  This class is best suited for dogs that can already perform the basic obedience skills and are comfortable in the presence of unfamiliar people and dogs. Classes will be offered every quarter ( January, April, July, October). CGC test will be held at the last class of the session.

Time: 12:00 – 12:45 pm 
Cost: $80.00 includes CGC test fee of $10

Really Reliable Recall 
Does your dog come every time you call or ignore you? Can you call your dog away from distractions or when you are in new locations? The Really Reliable Recall class will give you the skills you need to work on, to get a reliable recall. The goal is to have a reliable recall anywhere, even in new places when your dog is distracted. Classes will be outside so dress accordingly.

Using the Really Reliable Recall method is fun, easy to train and works for dogs of all ages.


  • Dog-Gone Fun Level 2 or a comparable class elsewhere
  • Must be able to be handled gently by a friendly stranger
  • Both a 4-6′ leash and a 30-40′ leash will be needed for class.

Really Reliable Recall sign up

Out and About
After doing all your homework in obedience classes, it is time to take it on the road. All the skills learned in the 0 – 3 levels classes will be practiced in real life situations. We learn proper public etiquette as well as skills to handle unexpected situations.  Class runs for 4 weeks and each week is held in a different outside public location.
